Cecilia Road, London E8

The project involved the extension and upgrade of 2 flats within a previously converted Victorian terraced house.

The principal objective was to add additional living accommodation to the rear of the property to both improve the existing provision and also to accommodate a new 2nd bedroom. As the upper flat had access to a private garden via an external stair to the rear of the property, careful coordination was required with the upper flat, the neighbouring properties, and the requirements of the local authority planning department, in order to reconcile an alternative stair within the design. A new kitchen and bathroom were also formed, together with complete upgrade and refurbishment throughout.

In addition to the requirements of the lower flat, a 2nd-floor extension was added to the upper flat to provide an additional bathroom, together with extensive reconfiguration and upgrade to the rest of the property.

Having achieved planning approval, the detailed design and site stages of the project were then managed by RISE Design Studio.
