Daubeney Road, London E5
The clients purchased this run down Victorian property in Homerton as a long term investment and family home. Re-form’s involvement was to be kept to a minimum in order to minimise costs, and the principle objective was to provide a new kitchen and family hub which would make the property sufficiently habitable whilst the ongoing renovation of the rest of the property was carried out.
It was obvious that light penetration into the deep plan of the rear projection was a major problem and Re-form identified the removal of an ill conceived rear bay as key in opening up the external interface. This key decision also provided a far more efficient space within which to work, albeit slightly reduced in area. A strip window over the kitchen worktop and below the wall cabinets also allowed additional light into the depth of the plan and provides an intriguing aspect from the new kitchen. A number of options were identified and refined along with full specifications that the client used as the basis of a direct appointment with a builder. Re-form had a reduced presence on site sufficient to help coordinate site issues with the client and builder as they arose.
