Mildenhall Road, London E5
The clients came to Re-form very happy with the size and configuration of their well appointed Victorian terrace, but with serious concerns regarding its thermal performance; in addition to its typical lack of insulation, the property also formed the end of terrace which significantly increased its exposed external area. In additional to the thermal upgrading of the property the clients were also keen to restore and maintain various original features that had to some extent been undermined by previous uncoordinated alterations. The works included full retrofitting of ground floor insulation and damp proof membrane; external wall insulation; double glazing and weather sealing to all original timber sash windows; replacement of all existing casement windows to the side and rear of the property with high performance timber composite windows; new radiators throughout; full internal redecoration. The front facade of the property was also completely overhauled taking it back to its original condition.
The thermal performance of the property has been significantly improved and the clients space heating bills have naturally plummeted. The property is now also significantly more comfortable in use and gives the clients a sense of pride regarding the impact that the works to the front facade have had on the overall streetscape.
